First defeat of league's leader Bornova against Mersin 85-79 was the most important game of the last round. Mersin looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American guard Tobin Carberry (193-1991, college: LIU Post) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Ogulcan Baykan (196-1996) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Carberry is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. Mersin's coach Semih Soguksu used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Colin Slater (185-1997, college: LBSU) replied with 29 points and 5 assists and Inanc Hotamis (203-2001) added 21 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Bornova. Bornova will play next round against strong Final Spor trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Mersin will try to continue on its current victory against Fenerbahce 2 in Istanbul.
