Regular Season Round 3: Triglav - Ilrija 49-71

There was no surprise in Kranj where Triglav (1-2) was crushed by Ilrija (2-0) 71-49 on Saturday. The game without a history. Ilrija led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Triglav to just 2 points in third quarter. Ilrija dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Triglav's 20. Ilrija forced 26 Triglav turnovers and outrebounded them 34-21 including a 26-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Bosnian Nikolina Delic (184-1996) who led her team to a victory scoring 9 points and 11 rebounds. Power forward Anita Merlak (189-2001) helped adding 6 points and 10 rebounds. Ilrija's coach Ernest Novak felt very confident using 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. The best for the losing side was forward Manca Vrecer (178-2002) with 7 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Rebeka Abramovic (172-1993) scored 14 points and 5 steals. Ilrija will meet at home Konjice (#6) in the next round. Triglav will play against Jezica in Ljubljana and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
