There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Aachen (1-3) defeated at home 4th placed Leverkusen 2 (2-2) 81-69 on Saturday. Aachen had a 28-15 advantage in offensive rebounds. Swingman Tim Schoenborn (193-1990) nailed 32 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals for the winning side and American forward Sasha French (211-1996, college: Azusa Pacific) accounted for 20 points and 9 rebounds. Center Yannick Kneesch (204-1996) came up with 22 points and Justin Gnad (194-1997) added 13 points respectively for Leverkusen 2 in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aachen left bottom position moving up to eleventh place in West, which they share with Ibbenbueren and Muenster 2. Loser Leverkusen 2 dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Aachen will meet at home league's second-placed ETB Miners in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Leverkusen 2 will play against Muenster 2 and hope to secure a win.
