Regular Season Round 5: Bensheim - Giessen Ak. 98-81

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Giessen Ak. (0-5) lost on the road to ninth ranked Bensheim (3-2) 98-81 on Saturday. Bensheim looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American guard Christopher Miller (192-1993, college: Salem) nailed 30 points and 5 assists (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) for the winning side and Marc Liyanage (199-1990, college: Delta St.) accounted for 12 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Bensheim players scored in double figures. Bensheim's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Terry Winn III (201-1995, college: UTRGV) came up with 38 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and Orkun Mehmed added 7 points and 5 assists respectively for Giessen Ak. in the defeat. Bensheim moved-up to fourth place in South-West, which they share with 4 other teams. Newly promoted Giessen Ak. still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Kronberg. Bensheim will meet Tuebingen 2 (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Giessen Ak. will play against Limburg and hopes to get finally their first victory.
