The game had a very big importance for seventh-ranked Elazig Karabulut as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Elazig Il) loss. Elazig Karabulut defeated top-ranked Izmit at home 79-70. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Izmit. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Elazig Karabulut made 23-of-28 charity shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Izmit was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Ameryst Alston (175-1993, college: Ohio St.) who helped to win the game recording 39 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and Dilara Gocmen who added 11 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Kym Royster (188-1997, college: Indiana) responded with 24 points and 8 rebounds and forward Betul Pehlivan (178-1988) scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Elazig Karabulut have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Izmit.
