Regular Season Round 3: Alexandria - Constanta 61-80

But Alexandria was not able to use a home court advantage and was crushed by the opponent from Constanta 80-61. It looked good early as Alexandria took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Constanta took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 19 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Alexandria's 24. Constanta forced 25 Alexandria turnovers and outrebounded them 44-24 including a 21-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Lydia Rivers (188-1997, college: Virginia Tech) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Her fellow American import swingman Naomi Davenport (180, college: WVU) accounted for 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. Four Constanta players scored in double figures. American center Sara Hamson (201, college: BYU, agency: LBM Management) came up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks and Bulgarian center Aleksandra Petrova (187-1997, agency: BIG) added 12 points and 5 assists respectively for Alexandria in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Constanta will play against Targu Mures (#6) at home in the next round. Alexandria will play against Cluj Napoca (#11) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
