Regular Season Round 5: Nevezis - Siauliai 81-92

The most shocking disappointment of round 5 was a home defeat of 6th ranked Nevezis (2-3) to seventh ranked Siauliai (3-2) 92-81. They made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. Siauliai outrebounded Nevezis 42-31 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Paulius Danusevicius (205-2001) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and American guard Kyle Mangas (193-1999, college: IWU) chipped in 18 points and 4 assists. American guard Brad Davison (193-1999, college: Wisconsin) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds and Belgian Tim Lambrecht (207-1998) scored 15 points and 8 rebounds. Five Siauliai and four Nevezis players scored in double figures. Nevezis' coach Gediminas Petrauskas rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Siauliai have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Rytas and Lietkabelis. Nevezis at the other side dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with P.Zvaigzdes and Juventus. Siauliai is looking forward to face higher ranked Wolves (#3) in Vilnius in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nevezis will play on the road against the league's second-placed Zalgiris (#2) in Kaunas and is hoping to win this game.
