Regular Season Round 5: Prienai - Neptunas 92-99

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Neptunas and bottom-ranked Prienai CBet had identical 0-4 record. But Prienai CBet was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Klaipeda 99-92 on Monday night. Neptunas outrebounded Prienai CBet 54-23 including a 17-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Neptunas made 11 blocks. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Deividas Gailius (200-1988) who had a double-double by scoring 27 points and 14 rebounds. The former international guard Mindaugas Girdziunas (188-1989) chipped in 27 points and 4 assists. Four Neptunas players scored in double figures. American point guard Brandon Brown (180-1991, college: LMU) produced 23 points and 6 assists and the other American import forward JyLan Washington (206-1997, college: Tennessee St.) added 25 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Neptunas maintains tenth place with 1-4 record. It was Prienai CBet's fifth loss in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Gargzdu. Neptunas will meet at home Gargzdu (#11) in the next round. Prienai CBet will play against P.Zvaigzdes in Pasvalys and hopes to get finally their first victory.
