Very expected game in Mersin where 6th ranked Kirklareli (2-3) was crushed by leader Tarsus (5-0) 84-62 on Wednesday. Tarsus shot 17 for 26 from the free-throw line, while Kirklareli only scored one point from the stripe. They outrebounded Kirklareli 46-30 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Tarsus looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American center Sasha Goodlett (195-1990, college: Georgia Tech) who had a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds. Point guard Yagmur Bul (164-1996) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. American guard Aliyah Mazyck (175-1996, college: USC) produced 22 points and 4 assists and the former international Fahriye Bayraktar (185-1995) added 24 points respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tarsus have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Newly promoted Kirklareli keeps the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with 5 other teams.
