The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Bayern Muenchen (3-1) on the court of seventh ranked Hamburg Towers on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by Hamburg Towers 81-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Bayern Muenchen. Hamburg Towers dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Bayern Muenchen's 28. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Kendale McCullum (184-1996, college: Lewis) who helped to win the game recording 31 points and 4 assists and Slovenian point guard Ziga Samar (197-2001) who added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Cassius Winston (185-1997, college: Michigan St.) responded with 25 points and his fellow American import center Freddie Gillespie (206-1997, college: Baylor) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four Bayern Muenchen players scored in double figures. Bayern Muenchen's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hamburg Towers have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Bayern Muenchen. Hamburg Towers is looking forward to face Brose Bamberg (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Bayern Muenchen will play against Hakro Merlins (#13) and is hoping to win this game.
