Yalova Vip can celebrate finally their first win this season after five consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Karsiyaka (0-6) 91-67 on Sunday. Yalova Vip dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Karsiyaka's 34. Yalova Vip forced 22 Karsiyaka turnovers. American guard Davion Wingate (168, college: FGCU) scored 39 points (!!!) and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and center Basak Altunbey (189-1996) chipped in 14 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Sydney Hunter (183-1999, college: San Diego) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 23 rebounds and Sila Dikmenogullari (-2003) scored 22 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Yalova Vip (1-5) left bottom position moving up to twelfth place, which they share with Diba Ankara. It was Karsiyaka's sixth loss in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. Yalova Vip will meet league's leader Izmit in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Karsiyaka will play against Kirklareli (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
