Regular Season Round 7: Palanga - Stekas 70-76

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Stekas and 10th ranked Palanga had identical 2-4 record. But Palanga was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Vilnius 76-70 on Thursday night. Stekas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Mantas Serksnas (200-1996) fired 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Karolis Brusokas (202-1991) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. Ukrainian forward Danilo Sokolenko (203-1999) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Ernestas Jaskus (195-2000) added 16 points and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Palanga's coach Povilas Sakinis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Stekas (3-4) moved-up to eighth place. Loser Palanga keeps the tenth position with five games lost. They share it with LSU-Atletas and Rytas 2. Stekas will meet at home higher ranked Vytis (#6) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Palanga will play against LSU-Atletas (#10) in Kaunas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
