Regular Season Round 5: Alexandria - Targoviste 79-45
Date: October 28, 2022
Alexandria's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Targoviste (0-3) 79-45. The game without a history. Alexandria led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Targoviste to just 7 points in second quarter. Alexandria forced 19 Targoviste turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American center Sara Hamson (201, college: BYU, agency: LBM Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 blocks for the winners and Bulgarian forward Anna-Mariya Kolyandrova (165-1997) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds. Cristina Badi (178-1993) responded with 7 points and the former international swingman Alina Chivu (175-1990) scored 4 points and 7 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Alexandria (1-3) left bottom position moving up to seventh place, which they share with Cluj Napoca and Targu Mures. It was Targoviste's third loss in a row. They still close the standings with three games lost. They share the position with Agronomia. Alexandria will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Targoviste will play on the road against Brasov (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
