Regular Season Round 7: Sangalhos - Oliveirense 62-83

Very expected game when bottom-ranked Sangalhos (0-6) were smashed at home by fifth ranked Oliveirense (5-2) 83-62 on Saturday. Oliveirense outrebounded Sangalhos 47-24 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American Darius Carter (201-1992, college: Wichita St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Julien Ducree (206-1996, college: Utah Tech) accounted for 14 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Oliveirense players scored in double figures. Oliveirense's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Canadian guard Nikita Kasongo (193-1996, college: St.Mary's) came up with 16 points and American forward Jack Hemphill (206-1999, college: SFC) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Sangalhos in the defeat. Oliveirense moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ovarense. Sangalhos lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with six games lost. Oliveirense will meet at home league's second-placed Benfica in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sangalhos will play against Povoa (#10) and hope to get finally their first victory.
