Regular Season Round 7: Soeflingen - Giessen Ak. 100-85

Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked Soeflingen (4-3) defeated bottom-ranked Giessen Ak. (0-7) in Ulm 100-85 on Sunday. Soeflingen made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Giessen Ak. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Giessen Ak.'s players. It was an exceptional evening for center Marko Markovic who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Laurin Ertekin accounted for 20 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Five Soeflingen players scored in double figures. American swingman Terry Winn III (201-1995, college: UTRGV) came up with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 20 rebounds and Hannes Bergmann (197-2003) added 6 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Giessen Ak. in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Soeflingen moved-up to third place, which they share with 10 other teams. Giessen Ak. lost their seventh game in a row. Giessen Ak. at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with seven games lost. They share the position with Kronberg. Soeflingen will meet Tuebingen 2 (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Giessen Ak. will play against Mannheim and hopes to get finally their first victory.
