There was no surprise when 10th ranked Vagos (1-6) were defeated at home by eighth ranked CAB Madeira (3-4) 78-68 on Tuesday. CAB Madeira made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American-Guyanese guard Miriam McKenzie (177-1990, college: Loyola, MD) who led her team to a victory scoring 26 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Paige Cannon (185-1996, college: Duquesne) helped adding 9 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. CAB Madeira's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side American guard Kwanza Murray (176-1996, college: Lincoln, PA) responded with 28 points and Colombian center Marlyn Vente (185-1995) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. CAB Madeira moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Galitos. Vagos lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with six games lost. They share it with CDEFF. CAB Madeira will meet Natacao (#9) on the road in the next round. Vagos will play against CDEFF and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
