There was a surprise result in Karlsruhe where twelfth ranked Lions (3-3) won against higher ranked 46ers (3-3) 89-83 on Friday. Lions made 26-of-31 free shots (83.9 percent) during the game, while 46ers only scored six points from the stripe. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American point guard Lovell Cabbil (188-1997, college: Liberty) who scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Center Maurice Pluskota (209-1992, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds. Cabbil is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Lions players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Justin Martin (199-1990, college: SMU) who recorded 28 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Jordan Barnes (178-1997, college: Indiana St.) added 22 points and 5 assists respectively. Lions moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated 46ers. Lions will meet higher ranked Titans (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. 46ers will play against Schwenningen and hope to secure a win and be promoted back to the BBL just one year after relegation.
