Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Phoenix Hagen (4-2) beat at home 13th ranked Kirchheim Knights (2-4) 86-77 on Friday. Phoenix Hagen made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Kirchheim Knights outrebounded Phoenix Hagen 47-34 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American JJ Mann (198-1991, college: Belmont, agency: GoEmpire Group) who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. Center Marcel Kessen (207-1997, agency: LUMANI 10.7) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Mitch Lightfoot (203-1997, college: Kansas) who recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Richard Williams Jr (178-1987, college: SDSU) added 17 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Phoenix Hagen moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Muenster and Dresden. Loser Kirchheim Knights keep the thirteenth position with four games lost. They share it with Bochum and Bremerhaven. Phoenix Hagen will meet at home Eisbaeren Bremerhaven (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kirchheim Knights will play against Uni Baskets and hope to secure a win.
