Regular Season Round 6: Schwenningen - Jena 71-87

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Schwenningen (0-6) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Science City Jena (5-1) 87-71 on Friday. The best player for the winners was American Brandon Thomas (198-1984, college: UMass, agency: Interperformances) who scored 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The other American import Shaquille Hines (200-1993, college: UTRGV) chipped in 15 points. Science City Jena's coach Domenik Reinboth used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Casey Benson (191-1995, college: GCU) who recorded 17 points and 5 assists and Jacob Knauf (210-1997) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Schwenningen players scored in double figures. Science City Jena moved-up to second place, which they share with Tuebingen. Loser Schwenningen still closes the standings with six games lost. Science City Jena will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Schwenningen will play against 46ers (#8) in Giessen and hopes to get finally their first victory.
