Important game to mention about took place in Balikesir. Seventh ranked Bogazici (5-3) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Edremit (5-3) 68-66 in the fight for the fifth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Edremit. They outrebounded Edremit 35-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Ukrainian center Olena Stashchuk (192-1985) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 32 points and 13 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots) and point guard Melisa Korkmaz (172-1997) supported her with 10 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Even 11 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists by center Irem Sozen (186-1998) did not help to save the game for Edremit. American center Zakyia Weathersby (188-1998, college: UAB) added 18 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Four Edremit players scored in double figures. Bogazici have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Edremit. Bogazici will play against league's second-placed Tarsus in Mersin in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Edremit will play on the road against Urla in Izmir and hopes to get back on the winning track.
