Regular Season Round 6: Rhoendorf - Giessen 97-85

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Giessen Pointers (0-5) were defeated on the road by third ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (4-1) 97-85 on Saturday. Dragons Rhoendorf dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Giessen Pointers' 36. Dragons Rhoendorf looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American point guard Devon Goodman (184-1997, college: Pennsylvania) had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds and 13 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Swedish forward Zaba Bangala (200-2001) chipped in 21 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Four Dragons Rhoendorf players scored in double figures. Dragons Rhoendorf's coach Julius Thomas used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American Jalen Gibbs (190-1999, college: JSU) with 23 points and David Amaize (193-2000) scored 18 points. Dragons Rhoendorf moved-up to second place, which they share with BSW Sixers. Loser Giessen Pointers still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Herford. Dragons Rhoendorf will meet league's second-placed Sixers in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Giessen Pointers will have a break next round.
