Regular Season Round 6: Schwelm - Rist Wedel 103-85

There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Schwelm (2-4) defeated at home 9th ranked Rist Wedel (2-3) 103-85 on Saturday. Schwelm dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Rist Wedel's 40. Schwelm forced 19 Rist Wedel turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American forward Brett Reed (204-1996, college: St.Martin's) had a double-double by scoring 30 points and 14 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import CJ Oldham (202-1991, college: Gannon) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was naturalized Icelandic point guard Leif Moeller (199-2003, agency: LUMANI 10.7) with 26 points and 7 assists and Czech Michal Kozak (203-1998, college: Weber St.) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Schwelm and five Rist Wedel players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Schwelm maintains eleventh position with 2-4 record, which they share with AC Wizards. Loser Rist Wedel dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. They share the position with 6 other teams. Schwelm will meet higher ranked RheinStars (#7) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Rist Wedel will play against Eagles and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
