Regular Season Round 6: Marijampoles - VKKM 61-118

Very predictable result when second ranked VKKM (5-1) smashed on the road bottom-ranked Marijampoles (0-5) 118-61 on Saturday. The game without a history. VKKM led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 84 of its points in the paint compared to Marijampoles' 36. VKKM forced 26 Marijampoles turnovers and outrebounded them 52-31 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was point guard Justas Ziubrys (183-2005) who scored 36 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Swingman Tomas Zelenskij (195-2005) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Adrijus Janciauskas (181-2005) who recorded 15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists and Armandas Jarasius (-2005) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Five VKKM and four Marijampoles players scored in double figures. VKKM have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with VKM. Loser Marijampoles still closes the standings with five games lost. They share the position with Birzu. VKKM will meet Zalgiris I (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Marijampoles will play against Birzu and hopes to get finally their first victory.
