Regular Season Round 6: Vechta 2 - BSW Sixers 85-90

The biggest surprise of round 6 was guest Sixers' (4-1) road victory over Vechta-2 (#5) 90-85 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Vechta-2. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Sixers made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game, while Vechta-2 only scored seven points from the stripe. The best player for the winners was American swingman Donte Nicholas (196-1987, college: FPU) who had a triple-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists and 6 steals (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Latvian Kristaps Kilps (196-2001) chipped in 25 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard JJ Culver (193-1997, college: WBU) who recorded 26 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Kevin Smit (182-1991) added 28 points and 4 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Vechta-2's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sixers have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Rhoendorf. Newly promoted Vechta-2 dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Sixers is looking forward to face Dragons Rhoendorf (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Vechta-2 will play against the league's leader SSV Lok Bernau and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
