Regular Season Round 4: Rm Valcea II - Gheorgheni 113-67
Date: November 6, 2022
There was no surprise in Ramnicu Valcea where bottom-ranked Gheorgheni (0-3) was crushed by top-ranked Rm Valcea II (3-0) 113-67 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Rm Valcea II. Gheorgheni managed to win fourth quarter 28-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rm Valcea II dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Gheorgheni's 38. Rm Valcea II forced 20 Gheorgheni turnovers and outrebounded them 49-31 including 18 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Lamar Hamrick (193-1998, college: Portland St., agency: Haylett Sports) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 4 assists (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) and forward Norbert Kelemen (192-1999) who added 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Hamrick is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Rm Valcea II players scored in double figures. At the losing side Tamas Bodo responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and Elod Csillag scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Rm Valcea II have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Phoenix Corona. Gheorgheni at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with three games lost. Rm Valcea II will meet Oradea 2 (#5) on the road in the next round. Gheorgheni will play against Cluj CSU and hopes to get finally their first victory.
