Regular Season Round 8: Natacao - CAB Madeira 59-53

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Natacao (3-5) won against at home 7th ranked CAB Madeira (3-5) 59-53 on Sunday. The winners were led by Cuban Isabela Quevedo (188-2003) who scored that evening 14 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Alison Lewis (178-1996, college: Delaware) supported her with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Natacao's coach Agostinho Pinto used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 11 points and 8 rebounds by American-Guyanese guard Miriam McKenzie (177-1990, college: Loyola, MD) did not help to save the game for CAB Madeira. American forward Paige Cannon (185-1996, college: Duquesne) added 7 points and 12 rebounds for the guests. Four CAB Madeira players scored in double figures. Natacao moved-up to seventh place, which they share with CAB Madeira and Galitos. Natacao will meet higher ranked GDESSA (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. CAB Madeira will play against Q.Lombos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
