Regular Season Round 9: Karsiyaka - Diba Ankara 57-96

Bottom-ranked Karsiyaka (0-9) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 96-57 loss to fourteenth ranked Diba Ankara (2-7) in Izmir on Saturday evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Karsiyaka's 30. Diba Ankara forced 28 Karsiyaka turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Karsiyaka's players. Melisa Eroglu (-2002) stepped up and scored 22 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals for the winners and DR Congolese center Mireille Muganza (185-1990) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Five Diba Ankara players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Sydney Hunter (183-1999, college: San Diego) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds and Sila Dikmenogullari (-2003) scored 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Diba Ankara moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Antalya. Karsiyaka lost their ninth game in a row. They still close the standings with nine games lost. Diba Ankara will meet at home higher ranked Izmit (#7) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Karsiyaka will play against Elazig Il (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
