Regular Season Round 5: Stomart Iasi - Craiova 2 70-85

Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Stomart Iasi (1-4) lost at home to fourth ranked Craiova 2 (3-3) 85-70 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Craiova 2. Stomart Iasi managed to win fourth quarter 23-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Craiova 2 forced 19 Stomart Iasi turnovers and outrebounded them 51-34 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Iulian Corneanu (197-1989) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Robert Licurici (188-2003, agency: BIG) accounted for 22 points and 6 rebounds. Moldovan Stefan Florea (200-2003) came up with 15 points and 9 rebounds and Stefan Paduraru (-2005) added 16 points respectively for Stomart Iasi in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Craiova 2 maintains fourth place with 3-3 record. Stomart Iasi lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Ploiesti CSU. Craiova 2 will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Stomart Iasi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Iasi to the arena Politehnica Iasi.
