The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Politehnica Iasi as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Laguna) loss. Politehnica Iasi smashed 4th placed Craiova 2 at home 106-62. The game was mostly controlled by Politehnica Iasi. Craiova 2 was better in fourth quarter 16-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Politehnica Iasi well out of reach of Craiova 2 shooting 79.3 percent from the field. Teodor Boghean stepped up and scored 23 points (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners and point guard Liviu Rotariu (192-1993) chipped in 18 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five Politehnica Iasi players scored in double figures. Robert Licurici (188-2003, agency: BIG) responded with 17 points and forward Iulian Corneanu (197-1989) scored 10 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Politehnica Iasi have a solid series of four victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Rm Valcea II and Phoenix Corona. Craiova 2 at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. Craiova 2 will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Politehnica Iasi will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Stomart Iasi. It will be extra interesting game as Stomart Iasi is their local rival from Iasi.
