Regular Season Round 13: Delikatesas - Stekas 90-72

There was an upset in Joniskis where higher ranked Stekas (5-6) was defeated by twelfth ranked Delikatesas (4-8) 90-72 on Thursday. Delikatesas dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Stekas' 22. They outrebounded Stekas 36-23 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Delikatesas looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Brazilian swingman Fernando Salsamendi (194-1996, college: Ave Maria) fired 27 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American center Corey Boyd (206-1998) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Boyd is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Delikatesas players scored in double figures. Mantas Serksnas (200-1996) produced 15 points and point guard Paulius Semaska (184-1993) added 10 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Delikatesas moved-up to eleventh place. Newly promoted Stekas keeps the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with Kretinga. Delikatesas will again meet higher ranked Stekas (#9) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Stekas will have a break next round.
