No shocking result in a game when top-ranked Phoenix Corona (4-0) crushed bottom-ranked Gheorgheni (0-6) in Brasov 115-54 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 50 points after three quarters before their 16-27 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Phoenix Corona shot 60.9 percent from the field. Phoenix Corona outrebounded Gheorgheni 47-29 including a 32-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Nicholas Son (-2004) notched 22 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and Alexandru Ionescu (-2003) supported him with 25 points. Five Phoenix Corona players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds by Tamas Bodo did not help to save the game for Gheorgheni. Elod Csillag added 11 points. Despite that victory Phoenix Corona went down to second position due to points difference. Gheorgheni at the other side, also newcomer in the league, still closes the standings with six games lost.
