Regular Season Round 8: Artland - Jena 85-80

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Artland Dragons (5-3) defeated one of their biggest challengers Science City Jena (5-3) in Quakenbrueck 85-80 on Saturday. Artland Dragons looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The winners were led by American guard William Christmas (196-1996, college: CPP) who scored that evening 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Jalen Bradley (185-1993, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) supported him with 19 points and 5 assists. Even 21 points by American Brandon Thomas (198-1984, college: UMass, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Science City Jena. Moritz Plescher (195-2000) added 16 points for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Science City Jena's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Artland Dragons have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Science City Jena. Artland Dragons will meet league's leader Tigers in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Science City Jena will play against Gladiators and hope to secure a win.
