Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Gheorgheni (0-6) lost on the road to fourth ranked Brasov (3-3) 73-63 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Brasov. Gheorgheni managed to win fourth quarter 21-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Brasov forced 26 Gheorgheni turnovers. Forward Sergiu Souca (200-1986) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Jeff Gordon (193, college: Barton, NC) supported him with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Brasov players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 20 points, 19 rebounds and 6 blocks by Tamas Bodo did not help to save the game for Gheorgheni. Guard Matyas Lokody (190-1987) added 14 points. Gheorgheni's coach tested twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Brasov maintains fourth position with 3-3 record, which they share with Craiova 2. Newly promoted Gheorgheni still closes the standings with six games lost. Brasov will meet Oradea 2 (#6) on the road in the next round. Gheorgheni will have a break next round.
