There was no surprise when 11th ranked Braunschweig (2-5) was defeated at home by fifth ranked EWE Baskets (6-2) 84-76 on Friday. Worth to mention a great performance of American Trey Drechsel (198-1996, college: GCU) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import point guard Dewayne Russell (180-1994, college: GCU) who added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists during the contest. American point guard Braydon Hobbs (196-1989, college: Bellarmine) responded with 15 points and 8 assists and the former international Robin Amaize (196-1994) scored 8 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. Braunschweig's coach Jesus Ramirez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. EWE Baskets have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ludwigsburg. Loser Braunschweig dropped to the fifteenth position with five games lost. They share it with Weissenfels. EWE Baskets will meet at home Seawolves (#8) in the next round. Braunschweig will play against MLP Academics Heidelberg (#10) and hope to secure a win.
