Regular Season Round 8: Rhoendorf - Rist Wedel 102-97

Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (5-2) defeated at home 6th ranked Rist Wedel (3-4) 102-97 on Saturday. Dragons Rhoendorf dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Rist Wedel's 36. Dragons Rhoendorf forced 21 Rist Wedel turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The best player for the winners was Florian Koch (197-1992) who scored 31 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Swedish forward Zaba Bangala (200-2001) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Five Dragons Rhoendorf players scored in double figures. American point guard Harrison Cleary (185-1997, college: UMC) produced 41 points (!!!) and 8 assists and Czech Michal Kozak (203-1998, college: Weber St.) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Rist Wedel's coach Stephan Blode let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Dragons Rhoendorf moved-up to third place, which they share with TKS 49ers and Oberhaching. Loser Rist Wedel dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Dragons Rhoendorf will meet at home league's second-placed SSV Lok Bernau in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Rist Wedel will have a break next round.
