Regular Season Round 8: Flames - Raiders 58-81
Date: November 26, 2022
There was no surprise in Vienna where 10th ranked Flames (2-6) were crushed by second ranked Raiders Tirol (7-1) 81-58 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Raiders Tirol. Flames managed to win third quarter 11-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Raiders Tirol forced 22 Flames turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Slovenian guard Jernej Ledl (195-1997) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 6 assists and Slovenian forward Gasper Rojko (200-1996) who added 14 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. Four Raiders Tirol players scored in double figures. American center Evan Frank (203, college: Wabash) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 24 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Slovenian power forward Nikolas Susa (197-1999) scored 16 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Raiders Tirol have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 7-1 record having just one point less than leader Blackbirds, which they share with BBU Salzburg. Flames lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with six games lost. They share the position with Rocks and Towers. Raiders Tirol will meet at home Ballers (#13) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Flames will play against Mustangs in Mistelbach and hope to secure a win.
