The game in Yambol supposed to be also quite interesting. Third ranked Balkan (4-2) played at the court of 7th ranked Yambol (2-4). Balkan smashed Yambol 81-55 on Saturday. They outrebounded Yambol 46-33 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Balkan looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American forward Calvin Godfrey (204-1990, college: Memphis, agency: BIG) had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and international Dimitar Dimitrov (203-1993) chipped in 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Five Balkan players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Cape Verdean-American guard Williams Tavares (198-1995, college: Fordham) with 27 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and the former international Pavel Marinov (199-1988, agency: BIG) scored 7 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Balkan have a solid four-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 4-2 record having four points less than leader Rilski. Loser Yambol dropped to the eighth place with four games lost. They share the position with CSKA. Balkan will meet at home Cherno More (#7) in the next round. Yambol will play against the league's leader Rilski in Samokov and hope to secure a win.
