Not a big story in a game in Izmir where 11th ranked Merkezefendi (3-5) was defeated by eighth ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (4-3) 92-76 on Saturday. Pinar Karsiyaka made 28-of-32 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas (205-1989) who scored 25 points (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!). Dominican Angel Delgado (208-1994, college: Seton Hall) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Pinar Karsiyaka players scored in double figures. Pinar Karsiyaka's coach Ufuk Sarica used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Trinidad and Tobago center Johnny Hamilton (213-1994, college: UT Arlington) produced 15 points and 9 rebounds and Greek swingman Nikolaos Rogkavopoulos (203-2001) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Pinar Karsiyaka moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Darussafaka. Loser Merkezefendi keeps the eleventh position with five games lost. They share it with Galatasaray and Bahcesehir. Pinar Karsiyaka will meet higher ranked Efes (#3) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Merkezefendi will play against Besiktas (#14) and hope to secure a win.
