There was a small surprise in Weissenfels where seventeenth ranked MBC (2-5) defeated 14th ranked Bayreuth (2-6) 96-83 on Saturday. MBC looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Bayreuth's players. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Kris Clyburn (198-1996, college: UNLV) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import Tremmell Darden (194-1981, college: Niagara) who added 22 points during the contest. American point guard Brandon Childress (183-1997, college: Wake Forest) responded with 17 points and Canadian center Kalif Young (206-1997, college: Providence) scored 12 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. MBC moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Braunschweig. Bayreuth lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventeenth position with six games lost. MBC will meet higher ranked Brose Bamberg (#14) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bayreuth will play against the league's second-placed ALBA Berlin and will have a slim chance for a victory.
