Regular Season Round 7: Steaua B. - Timisoara 81-90

The game between Top Four teams took place in Bucuresti. 3rd placed host Steaua B. (3-3) lost to first ranked Timisoara (5-1) 90-81. It looked good early as Steaua B. took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Timisoara had a 26-17 second period charge getting the lead and Steaua B. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-90. It was an exceptional evening for Serbian-Bosnian point guard Nikola Gajic (195-1991, college: SF Austin) who led the winners and scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Serbian point guard Ilija Djokovic (191-1996) accounted for 15 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Serbian point guard Strahinja Jovanovic (185-1996) came up with 25 points and 6 assists and Croatian point guard Karlo Vragovic (192-1989) added 13 points and 5 assists respectively for Steaua B. in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Timisoara maintains first place with 5-1 record, which they share with Oradea and Rapid. Steaua B. at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Timisoara will play against Constanta (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
