Regular Season Round 8: Piraten - KOS 76-70

There was a small surprise in Klagenfurt where ninth ranked Worthersee Piraten (4-4) defeated 6th ranked KOS (4-4) 76-70 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 76-70. Worthersee Piraten made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Shawn Ray (194-1980, college: NCCU) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and center Andreas Nuck (191-2000) who added 21 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) during the contest. Four Worthersee Piraten players scored in double figures. Slovenian point guard Grega Sajevic (187-1996) responded with 25 points and Slovenian forward Andrej Blazevic (195-2002) scored 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. KOS's coach Rok Heiligstein rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Worthersee Piraten moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated KOS. Worthersee Piraten will meet league's leader Blackbirds in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. KOS will play against Towers (#11) in Kufstein and hope to secure a win.
