Regular Season Round 8: Manisa - Anadolu Efes 74-95

There was no surprise when 15th ranked Manisa (1-7) was outplayed at home by third ranked Efes (6-1) 95-74 on Sunday. Efes had a 29-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was Croatian center Ante Zizic (209-1997, agency: BeoBasket) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. International guard Ahmet Tuncer (193-1993) chipped in 23 points and 4 assists. Efes' coach Ergin Ataman felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American Wayne Selden (196-1994, college: Kansas, agency: Slash Sports) produced 28 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and Nigerian-American power forward OD Anosike (203-1991, college: Siena) added 14 points and 14 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Efes have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 6-1 record having just three points less than leader Fenerbahce. Manisa lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth place with seven games lost. Efes will meet bottom-ranked Buyukcekmece (#16) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Manisa will play against Socar Petkim and hope to win that game.
