The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Lisbon: Benfica (#1) and Sporting (#3). Sporting was defeated at home 78-89 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Benfica forced 19 Sporting turnovers. It was a great evening for American guard Aaron Broussard (196-1990, college: Seattle) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 4 steals. Naturalized Cape Verdean Ivan Almeida (198-1989, college: Stonehill) helped adding 17 points and 5 assists. The former international Travante Williams (193-1993, college: Alaska, agency: Inception Sports) responded with 24 points and 4 assists and American forward Isaiah Armwood (206-1990, college: GWU) scored 11 points and 8 rebounds. Five Benfica and four Sporting players scored in double figures. Benfica (11-0) have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 11 victories in a row. Sporting at the other side keeps the third position with two games lost. Benfica will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sporting's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Lisbon to the arena Benfica.
