Regular Season Round 8: Tornado KM - Marijampoles 81-54

The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked Tornado KM's (3-5) home victory over 10th ranked Marijampoles (1-6) in Kaunas 81-54 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Tornado KM led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Tornado KM forced 30 Marijampoles turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Marijampoles' players. The winners were led by Armandas Bancevicius (-2006) who scored that evening 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and power forward Emilis Baltrimavicius (203-2005) supported him with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Tornado KM players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 9 rebounds by point guard Augustas Merkys (194-2005) did not help to save the game for Marijampoles. Point guard Adrijus Janciauskas (181-2005) added 7 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tornado KM moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Perkunas. Loser Marijampoles keeps the tenth position with six games lost. They share it with Birzu. Tornado KM's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Kaunas to the arena Perkunas.
