Regular Season Round 7: Kauno-LSMU - Alytaus 66-68

The most exciting game of round 7 in the Moteru Lyga took place in Kaunas. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 6th ranked Kauno-LSMU (3-3) to second ranked Alytaus (6-1) 68-66 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Kauno-LSMU. Alytaus forced 22 Kauno-LSMU turnovers. Strangely Kauno-LSMU outrebounded Alytaus 53-33 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Rasa Zemantauskaite-Matla (176-1981) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds. The former international point guard Milda Sauliute (175-1981) contributed with 6 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals for the winners. Point guard Neda Pliatkute (172-2004) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals and the former international forward Gabija Segzdaite (185-2000) added 8 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Kauno-LSMU. Alytaus have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain second place with 6-1 record having just nine point less than leader Panevezio, which they share with Vilniaus univ. Kauno-LSMU at the other side keeps the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with 7bet Vilnius and Kedainiu. Alytaus is looking forward to face Akmenes P. (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Kauno-LSMU will play against 7bet Vilnius and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
