Regular Season Round 8: Oradea - Focsani 86-56

Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Focsani (2-5) was outplayed on the road by second ranked Oradea (6-1) 86-56 on Saturday. The game without a history. Oradea led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Focsani's players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Catalin Baciu (214-1988, college: Clemson) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and the former international Bogdan Nicolescu (199-1997) who added 18 points during the contest. Four Oradea players scored in double figures. Serbian point guard Pavle Reljic (193-1993) responded with 18 points and 5 rebounds and DR Congolese-Canadian forward Eric Kibi (198-1990, college: ACU) scored 6 points and 10 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Oradea have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Timisoara and Rapid. Loser Focsani dropped to the seventh place with five games lost. They share the position with Miercurea Ciuc and Targu Mures. Oradea will meet Laguna S. (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Focsani will play against Voluntari and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
