Very expected game when 12th ranked Herford (1-7) was rolled over at home by eighth ranked Schwelm (4-4) 98-73 on Saturday. Schwelm looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American CJ Oldham (202-1991, college: Gannon) stepped up and scored 26 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Viktor Ziring (187-1998) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Schwelm players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Lithuanian Dainius Zvinklys (203-1990) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and naturalized American Shawn Gulley (200-1993, college: Temple JC) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Herford's coach David Bunts gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Schwelm have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Itzehoe and Frankfurt Jrs. Newly promoted Herford keeps the twelfth position with seven games lost. They share it with OrangeAcad. and Ludwigsburg. Schwelm will meet at home TKS 49ers (#6) in the next round. Herford will play against Giessen Pointers (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
