Very expected game in Gargzdai where 11th ranked Gargzdu (1-10) was defeated by sixth ranked Juventus (7-4) 85-68 on Sunday. Juventus forced 19 Gargzdu turnovers. The best player for the winners was American point guard Alex Hamilton (193-1993, college: Louisiana Tech) who scored 21 points. Swingman Gintautas Matulis (196-1986) chipped in 15 points. Five Juventus players scored in double figures. Juventus' coach Donaldas Kairys used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Giedrius Staniulis (206-1991) produced 16 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Josh Newkirk (185-1994, college: Indiana) added 15 points, 6 assists and 4 steals respectively for the hosts. Juventus have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Wolves. Gargzdu lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. Juventus will meet at home higher ranked Jonava (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gargzdu will play against Wolves (#5) in Vilnius and hope to win that game.
