Regular Season Round 5: Interkhim - Rivne 65-58

Very important is a road loss of second ranked Rivne (4-2) against fourth ranked Interkhim (3-1) on Sunday night. Visiting Rivne was defeated by Interkhim in a tough game in Odessa 58-65. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It looked good early as Rivne took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Interkhim had a 15-7 second period charge getting the lead and Rivne was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 58-65. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Rivne to just 7 points in second quarter. Interkhim players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The former international guard Olena Samburska (175-1989) stepped up and scored 9 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and guard Nika Korinna (170-1996) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Anastasiia Kucheronok (175-2002, agency: BIG) responded with 28 points and forward Liudmyla Spyrydonova (180-1984) scored 0 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. The victory was the third consecutive win for Interkhim. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Sumy. Rivne at the other side keeps the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Blyskavky. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
