A very close game took place in Karlsruhe between Lions and Tigers. Eighth ranked Lions (6-4) got a very close home victory over much higher ranked Tigers (8-2). Lions managed to escape with a 3-point win 95-92 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Tigers. They outrebounded Tigers 40-24 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. American point guard Lovell Cabbil (188-1997, college: Liberty) scored 30 points, 8 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and center Maurice Pluskota (209-1992, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 21 points and 17 rebounds during the contest. Cabbil is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side naturalized Croatian Mateo Seric (204-1999) responded with 21 points and 6 rebounds and center Daniel Keppeler (205-1997, college: Regnitztal) scored 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Tigers players scored in double figures. Tigers' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Lions moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Jena and Dresden. Loser Tigers keep the second position with two games lost. Lions will meet higher ranked Phoenix Hagen (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tigers will play against Science City Jena and hope to secure a win.
